At the entrance to Via San Gregorio Armeno stands the church of San Lorenzo Maggiore, in the bowels of which lies a real buried city: from the cloister, down a few steps, you reach two Roman streets (a hinge and a cryptoporticus) and their stores: a commercial area buried over the centuries by mud and perfectly preserved. At the far end of the area, a Greek-age basin shows how this Roman marketplace had arisen in correspondence with the older Greek marketplace.
